Frequently asked questions
What are Sierra Hos e-Labels?
Sierra Hos is a platform designed to offer transparent product information through QR codes, enabling wineries to share comprehensive insights about their products, from nutritional data to sustainability practices, all in compliance with EU regulations.
Sierra Hos e-Labels technology generates web pages and QR codes containing wine information. The web page includes details about the wine's properties: energy values, composition, allergens, and the producer's identity. Each QR code is linked to its corresponding web page.
Once a brand inputs product information into our platform, a unique QR code and URL are generated. Consumers can then scan the QR code, which is on each wine bottle, to access a detailed product page with all the information provided by the winery.
What do I need to know about QR codes?
It is recommended to use a QR code size between 13mm x 13mm and 16mm x 16mm, with a recommended empty space, often called the "quiet zone," around the barcode of 1.5-3 mm. For optimal results, use a black QR code on a white background. To ensure successful scans, the QR code image should be printable at 300 dpi or higher.
What needs to be included in the e-Label?
The e-Label should include product identification details such as the name, image, volume, and vintage. It should also list ingredients in descending order, highlighting potential allergens. Additionally, the e-Label should provide nutritional information, including energy, calories, fat, saturates, carbohydrates, sugar, salt, and protein, based on a 100ml serving size.
How does automatic translation work?
The EU regulation requires that e-Labels be translated into all EU languages. Sierra Hos e-Label solution offers translation into all 24 EU languages. The language displayed will depend on either the country where the e-Label QR is scanned or the language of the user's system.
Can I just print all the ingredients and nutritional information on the physical label?
Absolutely, you can. Please note that if you choose to use e-Labels, you must still print all allergens and intolerances on the physical label as well.
Are users tracked when accessing e-Labels?
No, users are not tracked when accessing e-labels on the Sierra Hos e-Label platform, as required by the new EU Regulation.
